YOUR QUESTION, ANSWERED

What should I know before booking?

Waste removal is best planned by material type. Soil, hardcore, timber, green waste and mixed rubbish may need different containers, weight limits or collection methods.

WHAT THIS SERVICE COVERS

Waste types need different approaches

A garden clearance, kitchen renovation and site tidy-up may all be described as waste removal, but their loads are not interchangeable. Knowing the waste type first avoids booking the wrong skip size or vehicle.

Garden waste

Branches, hedge cuttings and other suitable green waste are best discussed separately from soil or rubble.

Building and renovation waste

Tell us about concrete, bricks, tiles, mixed debris and plasterboard rather than assuming they can go into one load.

Timber and wood waste

Wood offcuts, panels and other timber need assessment, particularly if painted, treated or contaminated.

General property waste

Mixed household materials left after clearance can be considered for booked rubbish removal or a correctly specified skip.

PRACTICAL INFORMATION

Why waste separation matters

Heavy rubble may exceed the safe loading weight of a larger skip even when there is spare space. This is why our published 6- and 8-yard skip rates are not suitable for soil or hardcore. Green waste, mixed waste and hardcore-only loads have different price categories.

Some materials require additional checks or separate handling. Please tell us about plasterboard, electrical items, treated wood, chemicals, asbestos or any other potentially regulated waste before arranging removal.

PRICES & QUOTATIONS

What determines waste removal cost?

Quotes depend on waste type, weight, quantity, required vehicle or skip, site access and location. Send a description or photos so we can recommend an appropriate collection option.

Which service should I use?

Choose skip hire if you need time to fill a container, rubbish removal if you need a team to collect items, or grab hire for eligible bulk materials where a grab lorry can reach the load.

PLAN YOUR SERVICE

Matching waste removal to the material

The type of waste changes how collection can be planned. “Mixed waste” is not a single universal category: garden cuttings, clean rubble, soil, timber and household contents can require different loading, weight allowances and disposal routes.

Garden clear-ups

Tell us whether the load is leaves and branches, turf and soil, or old fencing and timber. Bagged light cuttings are very different from wet soil or large root balls. Separate the materials where practical.

Refurbishment and building waste

Describe concrete, bricks, tiles, timber, plasterboard and packaging separately. Heavy rubble can reach vehicle weight limits well before a vehicle looks full, so a visual estimate alone may not be reliable.

Mixed household and project waste

Let us know if the load contains bulky furniture, upholstered seating, electrical goods or specialist waste. These items should not automatically go into the same mixed-waste load.

Before you request a quote

  1. State the material types, estimated volume and approximate weight where known.
  2. Describe how waste is stored: loose, bagged, in a pile or inside the building.
  3. Share access photos and explain whether a vehicle can stop near the waste.

CLEAR ANSWERS

Waste Removal FAQs

Quick answers to what people ask us most.

Can you take soil and hardcore?

These materials need the right collection method and weight allowance. Please declare them before booking; they cannot go into our 6- or 8-yard green-waste skip loads.

Is garden waste removal available in Worthing?

Ask us about branches, cuttings and other suitable green waste. Describe the amount and confirm whether soil or other materials are mixed in.

Can I mix plasterboard with general rubbish?

Do not assume plasterboard is included in a mixed-waste price. Tell us about it in advance so we can advise on appropriate handling.

Do I need a skip or a collection service?

That depends on your working time, the volume of materials, access and whether you can load the waste yourself.

How can I get a quote?

Provide the postcode, approximate amount, material types and access details; photographs are very helpful.

Why do you ask what the waste is made of?

Material affects weight, safe loading and where waste can lawfully go. Soil, plasterboard, concrete, mixed furniture and green waste may need different handling, so the material list is important for an accurate enquiry.

Can garden waste and builders’ rubble go in one collection?

Do not assume so. Tell DJ Recycling the amount of each material first; separation may be required, and a dedicated skip or grab-hire enquiry could be more suitable for heavy material.
